My Goodreads Yearly Reading Challenge: Beyond 52 Books and Still Going! (Part 2)

Writer's picture: Sondra BordenSondra Borden

Hello, bookworms! I'm back with another update on my Goodreads reading challenge. As you might recall, I set out to read 52 books this year, and I'm thrilled to say I've surpassed that goal! Today, I'm sharing my thoughts on some more titles I've devoured recently. Remember, these aren't necessarily in series order, but each one has contributed to my reading adventure in its own way.

Let's dive into the ratings and reviews:

4-Star Standouts

Two books really shined in this batch, earning a solid 4 stars:

  1. Cruel Intentions by Siobhan Davis (Rydeville Elite 1) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This dark romance set in an elite high school is a compelling read with well-developed characters and a twisty plot. It's intense but captivating!

  2. Dark Prince by Michelle Hercules (Blueblood Vampires 1) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A standout paranormal romance with rich world-building and a brooding prince that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Solid 3-Star Reads

Most of the books I read fell into the 3-star category, offering enjoyable stories even if they didn't completely blow me away:

2-Star Challenges

Not every book can be a winner, and these two fell short for me:

  1. Fear Me by B.B. Reid (Broken Love 1) ⭐⭐ A dark romance that, while gripping, felt repetitive and potentially disturbing for some readers.

  2. Taking What's His by J.L. Beck ⭐⭐ Another dark romance that didn't quite hit the mark, lacking in character development and potentially off-putting for some.

Final Thoughts

Surpassing my Goodreads challenge has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Each book, regardless of its rating, has contributed to my growth as a reader and a person. I've explored various genres, from paranormal and shifter romances to dark high school dramas and biker tales.

I hope these reviews inspire you to pick up a new book or two. Remember, even if a book doesn't resonate with me, it might be your next favorite read!
