Hello, fellow bookworms! I'm back with another update on my Goodreads reading challenge. You might remember that I set a goal to read 52 books this year, and I'm excited to share that I've surpassed that milestone! Here are some of the books I've read along the way.
Let's dive into the ratings and reviews:
⭐ 4 Stars: Very Good
The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Amelia Wilde ⭐⭐⭐⭐A gripping romance with an intriguing plot and well-developed characters. Wilde's writing pulls you in and keeps you hooked until the last page.
Lucifer's Daughter by Kel Carpenter ⭐⭐⭐⭐An exciting urban fantasy filled with magic, danger, and a strong heroine. Carpenter's world-building and character arcs make this a standout read.
⭐ 3 Stars: Good
#TheRealCinderella by Yesenia Vargas ⭐⭐⭐A modern retelling of Cinderella that's both charming and engaging, perfect for fans of contemporary YA romance.
Hitman by C. Hallman ⭐⭐⭐A fast-paced romantic suspense with plenty of action and steamy moments, though it sometimes felt predictable.
Guilty Pleasures by Ava Grace ⭐⭐⭐An entertaining romance with some unexpected twists.
Twisted Betrayal by Siobhan Davis ⭐⭐⭐A dark, intense read that continues the drama and intrigue from the first book in the series, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Knox by Stephanie Brother ⭐⭐⭐A heartfelt romance with well-drawn characters.
Hooked by Emily McIntire ⭐⭐⭐A dark, modern take on the Peter Pan tale with compelling characters and a gripping storyline, though it wasn't as engaging as I hoped.
Break Me by K.A. Tucker ⭐⭐⭐An emotional romance with depth and complexity
⭐ 1 Star: Poor
Token Black Girl by Danielle Prescod ⭐While I was excited about this book, I found it lacking. It felt more like a memoir of a rich kid's "woe is me". The more I read, the more irritated I became. I didn't finish this one.
Final Thoughts
Each book, regardless of its rating, has contributed to my growth as a reader and a person. I've explored various genres, from dark romance and urban fantasy to contemporary YA and modern retellings.
I hope these reviews inspire you to pick up a new book or two. Remember, even if a book doesn't resonate with me, it might be your next favorite read!
